The name of the program comes from the philosopher, theologist and humanist Erasme of Rotterdam. Erasmus is also an English acronym for "European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students". It is a European program for higher education.

The objectives:

To support the European place creation in terms of higher education.

To reinforce the higher education and the professional education contribution.

To improve the mobility’s quality and volume of students and of the teaching profession.

Financial help:

The Erasmus common grant.

A supplement for Erasmus or a mobility grant reserved to the grant holders.

Who is concerned?

The program is essentially for students and teachers. Thanks to the program, students can go into a European university to study during a part of the year (between three months and one year maximum.)

The actions:

To organize the students mobility to study abroad.

Information diffusion, linguistic preparation.

Development of the European Credits Transfer System (ECTS) which makes easier academic recognition about course between universities of the different countries.
